Claim refers to the demand for compensation in a personal injury lawsuit. A claim is also the assertion of a right in a legal matter. For example, in personal injury cases, a claim may be that because of the defendant’s actions or negligence, the plaintiff has the right to have their medical expenses paid for, as they were injured as the result of the defendant’s actions whether intentional or unintentional.« Back to Glossary Index
